Neurological Conditions

Neurological conditions are conditions that affect your brain, spine, and peripheral nerves, such as  Brain Injury, Concussion, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Motor Neurone Disease, Ataxia and other progressive Neurological conditions. If you have a neurological condition you may have problems with muscle tone, movement, mobility (walking) strength, balance and co-ordination.

As well as the above structural neurolgical conditions (meaning a scan or other investigations show there is damage) we also specialise in treating people who do not have a structural neurological condition, but have the same symptoms, having problems with muscle tone, movement, mobility (walking) strength, balance and co-ordination. These are often called Functional Neurological Disorders (FND).

Other conditions we treat are disorders of the autonomic nervous system, including Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) and Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)

We will use our knowledge, skills and experience, with some technology to assist,  completing a comprehensive and holistic assessment, that means we treat you as a person, not a condition and look at all the areas of your life that may be impacted. We will then discuss with you to formulate a treatment plan that is specific to you to address to help maintain or improve all areas of physical function and well being.

Our treatments are underpinned by current principles and evidence. We know that one size doesn't fit all, so we will use what works best for you, incorporating our knowledge of the Bobath principle and normal movement and motor relearning principles and functional rehabilitation. Where appropriate we may use adjuncts, equipment and technology to help you get the best out of your treatment.
